If you or a friend have breast cancer or lymphedema, the support of family and friends is invaluable. Outside "resources" can be equally important in helping you acquire information, make contacts, answer questions, and assist in gaining control over your condition. Here are a number of lymphedema and cancer resources that offer a variety of educational and support services.

Academy of Lymphatic Studies
Manual Lymph Drainage and Complete Decongestive Therapy are the treatments of choice for Lymphedema. The Academy of Lymphatic Studies offers training and certification of health care professionals in both these specialized treatment techniques.

Non-profit corporation whose mission is to help identify, support and promote research into the causes, treatments, and potential cures for lymphedema and other angiodysplasia disorders.

Lymphedema Online Support Group
The Lymphedema Online Support Group is a listserv (a mailing list on the Internet) for the discussion of lymphedema, that provides free information regarding cancer and related diseases. It is supported by the Association of Cancer Online Resources (ACOR).

Non-profit corporation composed of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, massage therapists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists experienced in the field of Lymphology. They have acknowledged the need for a national certification examination for lymphedema therapists, to test knowledge considered fundamental in the treatment of lymphedema.

Lymphovenous Canada
Links people in Canada with dysfunctioning lymphatic systems with health care professionals and support groups in their communities, and around the world. Provides information and a balanced perspective on the latest developments in research and treatment in this area.

National Lymphedema Network (NLN)
Organization that provides education and guidance to lymphedema patients, health care professionals and the general public by disseminating information on the prevention and management of primary and secondary lymphedema.

NAVALT
Dedicated to the advancement of the Vodder Method through education and research, NAVALT promotes acceptance of Manual Lymph Drainage throughout North America.
